Colossians 1: 9-14
Introduction - Philippians 4: 6-7; James 1: 5; Hebrews 4: 14-16.
1. The reason
A. The theme- “ The supremacy and sufficiency of Jesus in all things “.
B. Jesus is God, Lord, and Savior.
C. The immediate context - the triology of our salvation.
2. The requests
A. To find God’s wisdom to be able to do His will. James 1: 5-8.
B. That you may walk in a manner worthy of the Lord. Hebrews 11: 6.
C. And increasing in the knowledge of God.
3. The resources.
A. Strengthened with all power according to His glorious might. Isaiah 40: 25-26;
28; Isaiah 9: 6.
C. To receive a divine inheritance.
4. The results.
A. He transferred or delivered us.
B. He provided redemption.
Application- Please take the cards on your chairs and write out your prayers.
1. Thanking the Father of our Lord Jesus for His great salvation.
2. Praying for God’s will in our lives so that we might please Him daily.
3. Specific prayers for others- salvation, finances, to forgive, to encourage etc.
9For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; 10That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God; 11Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness; 12Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: 13Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: 14In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins: (KJV)
